Sometimes people make mistakes. Sometimes that mistake is a baby. Today on Yahoo there was an article about a couple in Germany who had a baby and then not long later realized they didn’t want the kid after all. Instead of leave the baby to be raised by animals like in The Jungle Book, they did the second best thing–they tried to sell it on eBay. The ad said “Offering my nearly new baby for sale, as it has gotten too loud. It is a male baby, nearly 28 inches (70 cm) long and can be used either in a baby carrier or a stroller.”
The police found out about the ad and took the baby away to whatever the German version of CPS is. What was the most depressing part about the article? The baby was for sale for one euro, which Yahoo helpfully explains is the equivalent of $1.57. A buck fifty-seven? So much for that Take Back the Island summer tour of Europe we were planning.
